A huge price slash on a Citizen watch is not the sort of deal that tends to hang around.
Right now, Amazon has cut the price of the Eco-Drive Weekender by 58 per cent, bringing this 44.5mm everyday sports watch down to £139.99 (according to Keepa, an independent service that tracks Amazon prices, this is the lowest price the watch has ever reached).
And it is a pretty good watch for your money. The Weekender has a stainless-steel case, black dial and perforated black polyurethane strap, with a subtle vertical pinstripe finish across the dial. Luminous hands and hour markers make it easy to read in low light, while a date window sits at three o’clock.
It is not just a handsome thing to have on your wrist, either. The watch has 100m of water resistance, so it can handle swimming and the usual wet-weather mishaps, while a mineral crystal protects the dial. At 44.5mm, it is certainly on the larger side, but the sporty design keeps it feeling casual.

The best bit, however, is Citizen’s Eco-Drive movement. The J810 calibre is powered by light, both natural and artificial, so there is no regular battery replacement to worry about. Essentially, keep wearing it and give it access to light and it will keep itself going.
For £135.95, then, you are getting a proper Citizen sports watch with 100m water resistance and a light-powered movement. This is a watch seriously worth considering, even once you look beyond the big, red sale sticker.
