Hosted by Law & Order: SVU star Mariska Hargitay, the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards are set to take place at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles tonight, 14 September.
Honouring excellence in American television, an Emmy is considered one of the four major American awards for performing arts and entertainment alongside the Grammy, Oscar and Tony Awards.
This year’s heavy-hitting nominees include fan favourites The Pitt, Hacks, Widow’s Bay, Beef, and Pluribus.

Irish nominees include acclaimed film and television director Dearbhla Walsh, who worked as an executive producer on Margo’s Got Money Troubles, which is nominated for ‘Outstanding Comedy Series’.
Additionally, HBO’s A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms, which was filmed in Northern Ireland, is among the nominees for ‘Outstanding Drama Series’ after receiving nine nominations in total.
