A man sang to a mother giraffe and her baby at a zoo, and their sweet response is making everyone on the internet emotional.
In a video posted to TikTok, viral animal serenader Plumes sat down and sang a cover of Kodaline’s “High Hopes” to the two giraffes. In the video, the mother giraffe stood nearby and listened to the performance while a baby slowly made their way over to Plumes. The baby sniffed curiously at Plumes and his guitar during his performance and stayed close to him.
In the end, even the mother giraffe came closer to listen better and even seemed to approve of his song. Plumes also revealed in the caption that the “mom gave me the nod of approval at the end 🥹❤️🩹.”
People online loved the tender moment between the singer and the baby giraffe, with one user commenting, “the baby is soo curious.”
“Mom can sense your kindness, and she trusts you with her baby,” another user said in the comments. “God blessed you with a great talent. Thank you for sharing that with us.”
Another added that they would have “cried with joy if a baby giraffe came up to me like that,” in response to the sweet interaction with the baby. One person even said, “She’s so brave! 💕 Her momma makes her feel so safe – I just love this🥰.”

Facts about baby giraffes
Baby giraffes are considered to be one of the biggest babies in the animal kingdom, according to AZ Animals.
“There’s a reason for the longer gestation periods of the animals on this list: it gives the mother and baby enough time to share nutrients that create such a large, healthy baby,” they explained. “Giraffes need every minute of their 15-month gestation, too. Once born, these 150-plus-pound babies can see, smell, hear, taste, and even walk without instruction.”
The Giraffe Conservation Foundation (GCF) also reveals that “A giraffe cow gives birth on her feet, and the newborn drops around two meters or 6.5 feet to the ground.” While that sounds like a shock, it’s actually important for the baby’s health because “Once the baby hits the ground, the shock helps to stimulate its breathing.”
A newborn giraffe can be as tall as six feet when they’re born, and typically double their height during the first year of life. “Calves nurse for 9 to 12 months, start sampling leaves at about 4 months, and learn to ruminate as they go,” the organization added. “In the first days, a mother often tucks her calf into tall grass while she feeds, returning to nurse. Within a few weeks, the youngster joins the herd — sometimes into a nursery group, where one cow keeps watch while the others browse.”
