Sony Electronics has announced two new G Master super-telephoto prime lenses for the Alpha full-frame E-mount system: the FE 400mm F4.5 GM OSS and FE 600mm F6.3 GM OSS. Both will be available in October 2026. The FE 400mm F4.5 GM OSS is priced at $2,699.99 USD / $3,579.99 CAD; the FE 600mm F6.3 GM OSS at $3,699.99 USD / $4,999.99 CAD.
The FE 400mm F4.5 GM OSS weighs approximately 994g and measures 108mm in diameter by 242mm in length. The FE 600mm F6.3 GM OSS weighs approximately 995g and measures 108mm in diameter by 263mm in length. Both lenses position the center of gravity closer to the camera body to improve handling during handheld shooting.
The optical design includes three Super ED glass elements and one ED glass element, an 11-blade circular aperture, and Sony’s Nano AR Coating II. Two XD Linear Motors provide AF performance compatible with Alpha 9 III continuous shooting at up to 120fps with AF/AE tracking. Built-in optical image stabilization supports Active Mode and coordinated stabilization control with compatible camera bodies. Both lenses support teleconverters, extending the 400mm to 800mm and the 600mm to 1200mm. Controls include four customizable focus hold buttons, a function ring, focus range limiter, Full-time DMF switch, focus mode switch, and image stabilization mode switch. Both carry dust and moisture resistant designs with fluorine coating on the front element.
