Internationally acclaimed photographer, humanitarian and peace advocate Giles Duley has been presented with the 2025 Tipperary International Peace Award.
The award recognises his extraordinary courage, resilience and humanitarian work.
The photographer was critically injured by an improvised explosive device while working in Afghanistan in 2011, losing both legs and his left arm.
Despite his life-challenging injuries, he continues to document the lives of people affected by war, displacement and humanitarian crises around the world.
Through his photography, Mr Duley seeks to ensure that the stories of people affected by conflict are not forgotten.
The Tipperary International Peace Award has an international reputation for recognising individuals and organisations who have demonstrated courage and an exceptional commitment to peace, reconciliation and humanitarian work.
He joins an illustrious list of previous winners including Nelson Mandela, Ban Ki-moon, Adi Roche and Malala Yousafzai.
The ceremony took place at the Great National Ballykisteen Hotel in Limerick Junction, Co Tipperary.
Following the presentation, Mr Duley travelled to Tipperary Town, where he laid a wreath at the Tipperary Remembrance Arch at St Vincent’s Hospital.
