A public advisory has been issued over ongoing pressure on the Emergency Department at UHG.
The unit is extremely busy, with high numbers of presentations and people needing admission to hospital for treatment.
245 people attended the Emergency Department yesterday, and as of this morning, the INMO says there are almost 70 patients on trolleys.
The hospital says it’s implementing all possible measures to improve patient flow and reduce delays, and is asking the public to consider all available healthcare options before attending.
They include a GP, out of hours services, community pharmacists and the Roscommon Injury Unit.
People not requiring urgent care, the HSE says, will experience long waiting times.
Due to the ongoing pressure and lack of bed capacity, the hospital is reviewing elective procedures, with urgent and time sensitive cases being prioritised.
People are reminded to only attend the ED in the case of genuine emergency.
