A 16-year-old boy has been arrested by police as part of an investigation into alleged drug trafficking.
He was stopped after police noticed him driving a vehicle. After parking, he got out and walked away. When approached by police, he attempted to flee but was immediately arrested.
A search of the boy and the vehicle led to finding 12 sachets containing a substance suspected to be cannabis, a grinder with traces of what is suspected to be cannabis, five sachets containing a substance suspected to be cocaine, and around €700 in cash.
Police later searched the residence where the boy lives, where they found more suspected cocaine, an electronic weighing scale with traces of an illicit substance and a number of small bags.
The boy is being held at the police lock-up in Floriana and is expected to be arraigned in court today before Magistrate Ann Marie Thake.
