Apple has launched the iPhone 18 Pro, which has now stepped onto one of the top camera benchmark platforms – DXOMARK. The device has shown really strong photography and video-shooting performance. Yet it is still behind the champion – the Huawei Pura 80 Ultra in the race.
DXOMARK has shared the imaging performance scores of the Apple iPhone 18 Pro on its page. The flagship has ranked second in both global and ultra-premium listings.
iPhone 18 Pro has scored 172 scores, 3 points less than the best – 175 which was achieved by the Huawei Pura 80 Ultra last year. Apple’s flagship also gained 157 points in portrait, 150 points in low light, and 138 points in zoom photography.
The testing reveals that the Apple iPhone 18 Pro offers best-in-class low-light photography, delivering excellent detail, exposure, and noise control in challenging lighting. It gives accurate exposure with natural contrast + wide dynamic range.
It’s the first time that the iPhone supports a variable aperture – a true and robust imaging upgrade against the Huawei Pura 80 Ultra that helps keep more people in focus in group portraits, while also giving users manual control when needed.
iPhone 18 Pro also has effective stabilization that delivers smooth and natural-looking videos, even when recording while running at 60 fps further improving motion rendering. It brings well-balanced detail and noise levels with good texture.
Although certain cons, it remains behind the Pura 80 Ultra. There are:
Slight color casts and occasional white balance shifts can affect color consistency.
Long-range zoom performance falls behind some flagship competitors.
Flare can be noticeable in some shooting conditions.
Noticeable brightness shifts between photo and video previews.
Apple iPhone 18 Pro has a 48MP wide primary shooter with an f/1.48 aperture, a 48MP ultrawide-angle lens with an f/2.2 aperture, and a 48MP telephoto zoom sensor.
