HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) – Space enthusiasts and community leaders will gather in the Rocket City next month to honor pioneers of the cosmos and inspire the next generation of discovery.
The U.S. Space & Rocket Center Foundation is hosting the Space Explorers’ Celebration: “An Evening Among Legends of Space” on Friday, Oct. 2 at the Saturn V Hall.
The signature event will feature retired U.S. Marine Corps Maj. Gen. Charlie Bolden, a veteran astronaut and former NASA Administrator. Bolden flew four Space Shuttle missions (STS-61C, STS-31, STS-45, and STS-60) before leading the agency from 2009 to 2017.
Dr. Rick Chappell with the U.S. Space & Rocket Center Education Foundation and Bennie Jacks with the Marshall Retirees Association stopped by the 48 News streaming studio to preview the event.
Chappell and Jacks said the evening will bring together industry visionaries, explorers, and supporters to celebrate historic milestones in space exploration while highlighting the future of human spaceflight.
