Two people have died in separate road crashes in the country overnight.
A man in his 20s has died in a car crash in Co Limerick while a man in his 50s has died in a car crash in Co Meath.
In Limerick, the man in his 20s died in a single-vehicle car crash while two passengers in the car were taken to hospital for treatment.
The crash occurred on the N21 at Cummeen, Adare, Co Limerick, at around 2.40am.
Gardaí said the car struck a tree. The driver died at the scene.
His body was taken to the mortuary at University Hospital Limerick where a post-mortem examination will be carried out in due course.
The two passengers, another man aged in his 20s and an a man in his late teens, were taken to University Hospital Limerick for treatment.
The passenger in his 20s remains in a critical condition. The man in late teens received non-life threatening injuries.
The road at Cummeen was closed this morning for a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions were put in place.
Gardaí are appealing to road users, who were travelling on the N21 at Cummeen, between 2.15am and 2.45am, and who may have camera footage (including dash-cam), to make it available to them.

Meanwhile in Co Meath, the man in his 50s died when his car struck a premises.
The crash occurred on Connaught Street, Athboy, Co Meath, at around 2am.
The man, who was the sole occupant of the car, died at the scene.
His body was taken to the mortuary at Our Lady’s Hospital, Navan, for a post-mortem examination.
