Busy Philipps is kissing and telling.
At the conclusion of an emotional Instagram post about the recent Dawson’s Creek Class Reunion for charity, the actress reflected on the sexy smooch between herself and former onscreen boyfriend Joshua Jackson as they read a scene from the pilot’s script for the event in New York City.
During the reading, Philipps didn’t play her character Audrey Liddell (who shows up in season 5), but Tamara Jacobs (Leann Hunley), the 30-something teacher who seduces her 15-year-old student Pacey Witter (Jackson), setting off a season-long story arc between the pair that culminates in Tamara leaving their fictional town of Capeside, Massachusetts.
The scene in question features a long kiss between Pacey and Tamara — which Jackson, 47, and Philipps, 46, recreated and then some, complete with a dramatic dip, to the delight of the crowd.

Philipps revealed how their steamy lip-lock came to be on Instagram on Sunday, Sept. 28, alongside a photo and video carousel from the evening: “LOL to Josh’s response to me when I said after our last rehearsal ‘i mean we COULD really kiss’ and he looked at me and said, ‘I mean … I think we gotta give the people what they want.’ 😂❤️💋.”

Philipps and Jackson were joined by costars Michelle Williams, Katie Holmes, Mary Beth Peil, John Wesley Shipp, Mary-Margaret Humes, Nina Repeta, Kerr Smith, and Meredith Monroe at the one-night-only charity event on Sept. 22 at the Richard Rodgers Theatre, in partnership with F Cancer.
The night held a bittersweet tone with the notable absence of star James Van Der Beek, who was diagnosed with stage 3 colorectal cancer last year and dropped out of the event the day before after developing two different stomach viruses. The reunion, which was spearheaded by Williams, 45, featured a live reading of Dawson’s Creek’s unforgettable 1998 pilot episode to raise awareness for F Cancer and show support for Van Der Beek, 48.
The part of Dawson was read by Lin-Manuel Miranda, while his former Hamilton costar Renée Elise Goldsberry narrated and hosted the evening.
In her post, Philipps wrote that the reunion “was so unbelievably special that it’s taken me this whole week to process the 2 days we spent rehearsing the reading and reconnecting with one another and spending time with” Van Der Beek’s wife Kimberly and their six children, who were all in attendance.
“I’m so grateful to everyone who responded immediately to our texts saying yes! and BEYOND grateful to my dear Rene [sic] for helping to host the evening and to Lin – who was a great Dawson Leery in a pinch and to Norm Lewis – who made us all cry singing Music Of the Night – which we had hoped James would be able to sing,” the Freaks and Geeks alum continued.

Philipps went on to thank “everyone who worked so hard to make this night happen,” including her best friend Williams’ husband, Hamilton director Thomas Kail, as well as Dawson’s Creek creator Kevin Williamson and executive producer Greg Berlanti, among others.
“And also to everyone who works at the Richard Rogers [sic] and the cast of Hamilton for graciously letting us invade your dressing rooms for the night,” she continued. “I’m so grateful to the fans that showed up and donated and bid to raise money to support F Cancer and James. And especially to James and Kimberly and their children — for continuing to show us all what real love and strength looks like in the face of this disease.”
“James was missed so much but his videos and the light of his family lifted us all up!! F cancer for REAL,” Philipps concluded.
Kimberly, 43, left a sweet pair of comments under Philipps’s post, beginning with, “❤️❤️ you slayed this! What a beautiful magical night ❤️❤️.”
“And thank you for the depth of love and support,” she wrote in another comment, adding of herself, her husband and their family, “It will reverberate in our hearts forever.”
