SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – Shot and put together in South Dakota, “Thread Bound” premiered in theaters across the state this weekend.
The movie has been in the works for eight years, with filming taking place nearly three years ago. Many sites in Aberdeen served as filming locations.
Those who put the film together have been going around the state hosting meet-and-greets in places like Aberdeen, Watertown, and Mitchell.
Director and writer Allison Downey said the entire production and film crew wanted to give back to South Dakota, and this film serves as a way to do that.
“The people that live here are amazing, and we wouldn’t have been able to do it without them. They’ve opened up their businesses for us. They opened up their homes for us, and they were willing to come out to film and really help a lot. We wouldn’t be able to do it without them,” Downey said.
Downey said making films in South Dakota is much more intimate and thoughtful than it is in other places.
