A man died after becoming unwell on Croagh Patrick yesterday.
The emergency services were called to the scene on the summit of the mountain, early yesterday afternoon.
Mayo Mountain Rescue volunteers and Westport Coast Guard assisted at the scene and the man was airlifted by the Sligo based Coast Guard helicopter, Rescue 118 to Mayo University Hospital.
He later died in hospital.
His name has not been released.
It’s understood that the man was a visitor in the area.
