Leonardo DiCaprio had two of his biggest fans by his side during a recent appearance, but this time they weren’t there to celebrate the Academy Award winner.

The actor and his parents, George DiCaprio and Irmelin Indenbirken, were spotted arriving at Villa Albertine on Tuesday, Sept. 22, for a ceremony honoring Robert De Niro and Martin Scorsese. Although they split when he was just a baby, the former couple have remained close and continued to be an important part of their son’s life.

DiCaprio looked fancy but low-key in an all-black look as he walked alongside his parents. His mother wore a colorful purple-and-pink patterned dress with a white head wrap, glasses, and a light-colored handbag, while his father rocked a classic black suit with a white shirt and black tie.

It’s no secret that De Niro and Scorse are two of Hollywood’s most celebrated filmmakers. At the ceremony, French President Emmanuel Macron presented the longtime collaborators with France’s Légion d’honneur.

It’s only right the Inception star had an invitation. He has a long history of working with Scorsese. The pair first teamed up for 2002’s Gangs of New York and went on to collaborate on The Aviator, The Departed, Shutter Island and The Wolf of Wall Street.
Most recently, DiCaprio starred in Scorsese’s 2023 film Killers of the Flower Moon alongside De Niro, bringing all three Hollywood heavyweights together on screen.

French President Emmanuel Macron presented the longtime collaborators with France’s Légion d’honneur during the ceremony, which took place while Macron was in New York for the United Nations General Assembly.
Scorsese, 83, was named a Grand Officer of the Légion d’honneur, honouring his decades of work restoring film heritage and supporting independent cinemas.

De Niro, also 83, received the rank of Officer and was recognized in part for his contributions to image education and independent audiovisual creation.
The distinction recognized their contributions to cinema and their work supporting the preservation of film and independent filmmaking.

De Niro and Scorsese have worked together on 10 feature films, including Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Goodfellas, Casino and The Irishman.
The New York ceremony also comes shortly after France hosted the Lumière Summit, an international gathering focused on the future of cinema and the moving image.
More than 200 guests from more than 65 countries participated in the Sept. 7 summit, which addressed issues including artificial intelligence, image education and the future of the film industry’s economic model.
