Former election candidate appointed to new role with Independent Ireland

A former general election candidate has been appointed to new role at Independent Ireland.

West Sligo-based Cllr Michael Clarke contested the 2024 general election in Sligo-Leitrim.

He narrowly missed out on election after picking up over 5 and a half thousand first preference votes.

Cllr Clarke has been appointed as the party’s spokesperson on Environment and Local Government.
