The diabetes day service at Mullingar hospital has been temporarily suspended.
Local Fine Gael TD, Micheál Carrigy, says it’s due to staffing shortages, with vacant nursing and dietician jobs.
He says recruitment is under way to fill them.
During the suspension, existing patients will be managed through consultant diabetes outpatient clinics – but no new referrals can be accepted.
Deputy Carrigy is calling for the diabetes day service to be restored as quickly as possible.
