Manchester City’s return to the pitch after the recent Premier League judgement was a successful one, beating Liverpool 3-0 at Anfield.
The game was closer than the scoreline may suggest, with Liverpool actually the better side for much of the first hour at Anfield. They looked to be in the ascendancy when Ryan Gravenberch was sent off for what seemed like two very harsh bookings.

That was the turning point in the game, with Manchester City dominating against ten men from that point onwards.
They opened the scoring through Erling Haaland just three minutes later, with further goals added by Jeremy Doku and Rayan Cherki.

Roy Keane not having Maresca’s Manchester City comments
This was a comfortable victory in the end for Manchester City, although the occasion was a hugely strange one.

As Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher pointed out in the Sky Sports commentary booth, it is unclear what significance this win will hold at the end of season after the club receive their punishment for breaching 114 of their 115 charges from the Premier League.
In his post-match press conference, City boss Enzo Maresca was quick to say his team had cancelled out the ‘noise’ around directed towards the club in this game.

I said during the week we need to learn how to deal with the outside noise because of the situation. The noise will always be there.
We have to learn how to deal with that. But at the same time, we need to try and make our noise. That’s winning games like we did today.
At the end of the game our fans were singing so the noise was from us and not from the environment.
While Maresca is in an awkward position at the moment, these words were called quickly called out by some.
It was a comment that did not go unnoticed by Roy Keane, who said on Sky Sports soon after:
I think he’s on bonuses to say ‘noise’! Every time he says noise he gets a bonus.
The noise is their fault! It’s their fault.
Manchester City appeal remains ongoing
Manchester City have launched an appeal again their conviction and have maintained their innocence throughout this process.
While it remains to be seen what the outcome of that move will be, the report into their supposed rule breaches was damning and would suggest that the overturning of all charges seems rather unlikely.
That could all result in City’s exploits in the league this season becoming null and void, with many expecting the club to be relegated if the punishment is enforced before the end of the current campaign.
