The Miami County Sheriff’s Office is encouraging residents to keep an eye out following reported mountain lion sightings.

Three sightings were reported to the sheriff’s office.

The Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks has not confirmed an official sighting.

The sheriff’s office said the initial report came in late September near Coldwater Road and State Line Road.

A second report was made on Oct. 19, describing a large cat that was roaming near Lane.

The sheriff’s office then received information about a video allegedly showing a large cat walking near an animal pen in the Hillsdale area.

All reports should be made to the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks.

Residents can also contact the Miami County Sheriff’s Office at 913-294-3232. Call 911 if an animal poses an immediate threat.
