John McAreavey completed his first marathon over the weekend, but based on his time you certainly couldn’t tell. He completed the Dublin-based run in three hours and thirty eight minutes, no small feat!
The Down man flashed his biceps as he posed in his all-black running rigout, beaming from ear to ear. He also showed off his medal, after joining the record breaking 19,190 people took part in this year’s marathon.
It appears John has been bitten by the bug as he told his followers he is ‘on to the next.’ He shared a string of snaps, alongside the caption: ‘My first marathon and delighted it was @dublinmarathon. I’d heard a lot about the Dublin crowd and the support they give but to experience it first hand was magic, they really helped!’

‘Really proud of that effort as conditions were really tough,’ he added. The celebrations didn’t stop in the capital city, as the soon-to-be dad of three made his kids proud.
His wife Tara, who is currently pregnant with the couple’s third child, helped their son James and daughter Lily make a sweet poster to celebrate John’s achievement.
