EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) – Saturday is national drug take back day, and residents of the Chippewa Valley got a chance to take part.
Folks could get rid of their expired prescription drugs in several different drive thru’s in the area.
The Chippewa County Department of Public Health and Chippewa County Healthy Communities Coalition hosted this event.
They accepted medications, creams and ointments, inhalers, non-aerosol sprays and medication patches, among others.
“It’s just a nice safe way to safely dispose of medication, otherwise sometimes that winds up in the landfill or gets flushed down the toilet and ends up in the sewer system or sometimes it will get in the wrong hands so this is a safe way to dispose of it,” said Lieutenant Scott Kelley of the Altoona Police Department
If you couldn’t make it on Saturday, Chippewa county has plenty of year-round options for safe disposal of medication.
