A casting shake-up on In the City has reawakened the beast known as Scamanda. Amanda Batula, Kyle Cooke, and West Wilson are once again beefing on social media. History doesn’t repeat, but it does rhyme.
Things appeared to kick off with news that Batula would not be returning for season two of In the City. “Page Six” broke the story, citing anonymous sources. That same day, West Wilson posted an Instagram carousel. Normal, right? He’s posted a lot since the Summer House cheating scandal erupted. Yet this was the time Cooke decided to get salty in the comments. “More like a coke head that blew my ex’s life and career up,” Cooke wrote; he later deleted the comment. Wilson responded by claiming Cooke called Batula a “dumb ass bitch” during their relationship.
Batula then weighed in, retweeting (and later deleting) a fan’s analysis of the dynamics at play with the bull’s-eye emoji. “Kyle realized that when Amanda declined to film the upcoming season of #inthecity that he could no longer control or manipulate her anymore and melted down in West’s IG comments …,” it read. This was essentially confirmation that Batula will not be returning to In the City.
On Thursday, cooler heads appeared to prevail. Cooke posted an Instagram Story promising to stay out of from now on. “Ultimately, I wanted us to both have the opportunity to share our perspectives on the show,” he wrote. “But at the end of the day, Amanda has her own life and makes her own decisions, just as I make mine. I’ll leave it there.”
Bravo fan account @yourmomsarewatching posted a DM they claim is from Batula, which says she left the show because of online hate. “The continued hate from fan accounts and the internet is a huge reason why I decided I wasn’t ready to film again and put myself back out there,” it reads. The same day, she posted an IG carousel of her own, captioned, “Yall mind if I post?” A comment with 4,000-plus likes reads, “We’d prefer if you didn’t but when have you ever listened?”
According to “Page Six,” not a whole lot of people are coming back! Danielle Olivera and her boyfriend are reportedly out, as are Andrea Denver and Lexi Sundin. Both just had kids and may need at least one season of parental leave. There are reportedly two new couples joining the show and one single newcomer. Is that Carl Radke? Please tell us there will be more Carl this season. The one good thing this whole mess has given us is the rekindled friendship between Carl and Lindsay Hubbard.
