Former James Bond star Trina Parks opened up about Sydney Sweeney potentially taking up a role as a Bond Girl, praising her “classic Hollywood” style and “range of acting”
A former Bond girl said Sydney Sweeney would do a great job in the role
Trina Parks, who starred as Thumper in the James Bond film Diamonds Are Forever, revealed her thoughts on Sydney Sweeney potentially taking up a role as a Bond Girl.
Parks, 79, made headlines in 1971 as the first Black woman to take up the “Bond Girl” moniker, alongside Sean Connery in Diamonds Are Forever. Now, she’s offering her take on Sweeney, 29, picking up the coveted title of “Bond Girl” an interview with The Telegraph. The 007 actress complimented the Euphoria alum, saying that Sweeney “would do a wonderful job” in the position.
She added that Sweeney has a “Hollywood classic kind of style and poise.”
“She has done quite a range of acting things and basically has got ownership of her sexual identity,” continued Parks’ praise of Sweeney. The Housemaid star has repeatedly faced backlash for her NSFW-leaning content, including appearing seemingly naked in an ad for betting app Novig.
Adding to her thoughts on the actress’ “Hollywood classic style,” Parks remarked that Sweeney’s look “really works for her projects and brand.”

Trina Parks shared her thoughts on who should be the next bond girl
“I feel for modern cinema and film-making and the future of Bond, audiences want to see a woman opposite Bond who is independent and has ownership of her sexuality,” continued the Beyond the Valley of the Dolls star. “Sydney has those qualities.”
Parks added that the “days of women just falling into bed with [James Bond] have changed.” She remarked that it would “be good” to have “the girl of the moment” take up a Bond role.
“She definitely has a look that would fit into the Bond world,” continued Parks.
“I don’t know much about her work, but she obviously can act because of the type of projects she has appeared in,” she said.
Parks also noted that Zendaya, who is among the shortlist of rumored “Bond Girl” names, would be fitting for the role. Parks complimented Zendaya’s role in the Spider-Man movies, adding that the actress has a “very strong screen prowess.”

Parks commended Sweeney for having ‘ownership of her sexuality’
“She would be another woman who would not be a pushover for Bond, which would be a good thing,” she added.
“I have always advocated for women of color and greater representation in the movies and the Bond franchise has always been an advocate for them,” emphasized Parks. “The [film producers] Broccolis were casting more people of color many years before other Hollywood studios brought them in.”
Dune director Denis Villeneuve is set to helm the next James Bond film. It’s unknown what actor will take up the role of the iconic spy, but Jack Lowden, Callum Turner and Josh O’Connor were all confirmed to be screen-testing for the part. Another “mystery” actor is also in the running, but his identity has not been revealed.
