Another November, another this-feels-way-too-early Mariah Carey “It’s Time!!!!” video. And this year, Carey has a title to reclaim after Ella Langley surpassed her record for the longest-leading hit song on Billboard’s “Hot 100” chart this past September. Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” has topped the list for 22 nonconsecutive weeks since Christmas 2019, but Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” has been sitting at the No. 1 spot for 25 nonconsecutive weeks since February. In April, Carey was also snubbed of an induction to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame for the third year in a row. This Christmas is Carey’s opportunity to return to her throne, and the queen has already decreed the start of the season.

In this year’s “It’s Time!!!!” video, Carey makes a callback to her alternative grunge band Chick, performing her 1995 song “Hermit” from Someone’s Ugly Daughter in a crowded New York City bar while wearing a pink wig, cat ears, and black glitter lipstick. At the stroke of midnight on November 1, she dives into the crowd, hits her signature high note, and instantly gets transported to the top of a giant Christmas tree surrounded by snowy mountains, where she sings her holiday anthem.

“All I Want for Christmas Is You” has already reentered Spotify’s “Top 50 Global” chart at No. 32, ironically right above “Choosin’ Texas” at No. 34 — and it’s only up from there. Carey has also teamed up with Gucci for its holiday campaign this year, appearing in a short film shot to her song.
