Once every 5 years, applications open for grants that have now been funding agricultural chemistry research in the US for over 100 years. The Herman Frasch Foundation grants, created under the will of Elizabeth Blee Frasch, are administered by Bank of America, which is advised by the American Chemical Society. The grants are intended to support research in the field of agricultural chemistry and the development of agriculture in the US, situating them in a unique research space spanning fundamental and applied science.

“It’s a good long grant,” says Thomas Clancy, program manager in the Office of Research Grants at ACS. It’s a provision that makes it a rarity in the research world; the grant is $50,000 per year for 5 years, totaling $250,000 by the end.
