Senior Director of Development • LSU Foundation

Grace Hermes was unable to attend LSU due to financial barriers. Today, she helps open that door for students.

In three years, the LSU Foundation senior director of development has helped raise nearly $5 million for LSU. The accomplishment is personal: She knows what donor support can make possible for someone who might otherwise miss the opportunity.

Four promotions at the foundation culminated in a university-wide strategic fundraising role in January 2026. As one of two inaugural flagship fundraisers, she helps advance academic priorities across LSU, partnering with leaders and cultivating donor relationships.

Her work includes reengaging unconnected prospects and strengthening partnerships, while overseeing a donor portfolio spanning Austin, San Antonio, New Orleans and the Northshore.
Beyond campus, she has served on the Power Pump Girls board since 2022.

A problem I want to help solve: “Changing the perception that philanthropy only makes an impact at high levels of giving. I wish more people understood that every gift matters and that collective generosity creates meaningful opportunities.”

What guides a difficult decision: “Think about the people, not just the decision. I try to consider how something will impact everyone involved and lead with empathy.”
