Thousands of bottles of painkillers have been recalled due to a label mixup, according to an enforcement report from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

The over-the-counter drugs were distributed nationwide, including in Idaho.

Here’s what you should know:

Which drug was recalled in Idaho? Why?

Prodose Pharma of Ronkonkoma, New York, recalled 100,134 bottles of ValuHealth Extra Strength Pain Relief Acetaminophen due to incorrect labels placed on the product, the FDA said.

While the outer carton label correctly identifies the pills in the bottle as ValuHealth Extra Strength Pain Relief Acetaminophen, the inner label on the bottle says ValuHealth Extra Strength Pain Relief PM, the federal agency said.

Both the daytime and PM pain relievers contain 500 mg of acetaminophen which can ease aches and reduce fevers.

However, the nighttime capsules also include 25 mg of diphenhydramine, which is used to treat allergic reactions, insomnia and motion sickness in adults.

Prodose initiated the recall on Oct. 14.

On Oct. 26, the FDA updated its recall classification to Class III, which indicates “a situation in which use of or exposure to a violative product is not likely to cause adverse health consequences.”

It’s the second nationwide acetaminophen recall in about two months, according to the FDA.
