The end of Ultimate Spider-Man, announced back at San Diego Comic-Con 2025, is just the beginning — in 2026, the Ultimate Universe is coming to an end, and Marvel Comics promises that it’s not kidding around this time.

As revealed during Marvel’s presentation as part of the Professional Day programming at New York Comic Con 2025, each of Marvel’s primary Ultimate Universe comic book titles will follow the lead of Ultimate Spider-Man and end with their 24th issue, with Ultimate Black Panther ending in January 2026, Ultimate X-Men ending in February 2026, and The Ultimates ending in April 2026.

Additionally, Ultimate Wolverine will also end with April’s Ultimate Wolverine #16, and Ultimate Endgame will conclude with April’s Ultimate Endgame #5. After the release of the April titles, the Ultimate Universe will be no more – at least according to Marvel.

Marvel editor-in-chief C.B. Cebulski told the assembled retailers at the Javits Center about the conclusion of the best-selling Ultimate line, “You think we’re lying, but we’re not.” When teasing what it going to happen in the upcoming months as the line comes to a close, “chaos will reign,” he explained, saying that the Ultimate Universe and the Marvel Universe will start to align a lot more as the Ultimate line starts to wrap up. (Fans should already be paying attention to the current Ultimate Spider-Man: Incursion series, which brings Miles Morales to the new Ultimate Universe, for signs of what might be to come. The final issue of the five-part series is set to be released October 22.)

Since its 2024 launch, the current Ultimate line has been one of Marvel’s best-selling imprints, with Ultimate Spider-Man a reliable best-seller during that time. That series, by Ultimate architect Jonathan Hickman and Marco Checchetto, ends in December.
