Logitech has announced the MX Master 4 mouse, introducing customisable haptic technology and enhanced connectivity for professional users.

New features

The MX Master 4 is the first in Logitech’s MX range to offer customisable haptic feedback, aimed at providing tactile precision for tasks such as video editing, design work and data analysis. Subtle vibrations for scrolling, navigation and selection are at the core of this redesigned control mechanism.

One of the main software enhancements is the Actions Ring, a digital overlay powered by Logi Options+. It allows users to institute app-specific shortcuts and custom controls directly onto their screens. Logitech’s internal study claims the tool can save up to 33% of professionals’ time and lead to a 63% reduction in repetitive mouse movements, depending on workflow and shortcut selection.

“In today’s fast-paced and demanding world, advanced users need tools that help them redefine their workflows to deliver more in less time. We designed MX Master 4 to bring next level immersion and speed to our users thanks to the tactile haptic feedback and instant access to their favourite tools with the Actions Ring software overlay.”

Hardware upgrades

The hardware for the MX Master 4 includes a high-performance chip and an optimised antenna configuration, which Logitech states delivers double the connectivity strength compared to its previous MX Master model. The mouse connects using a new USB-C dongle, supporting quick pairing and dependability across laptops, desktops and tablets.

Materials used in the MX Master 4’s manufacturing process feature enhanced stain-resistance and a design that is flexible to support everyday wear and tear, contributing to the mouse’s long-term durability.

Business applications

Logitech has aimed at making the MX Master 4 suitable for enterprise deployment. The mouse can be remotely monitored and administrated using Logitech Sync if employees are logged into Logi Tune, offering IT managers the capacity to manage hardware remotely without physical desk visits. In office environments where interference can occur, Logi Bolt ensures connectivity reliability so employees can maintain focus during the workday.

Sustainability

Reducing environmental impact was also a consideration in the device’s development. MX Master 4 uses a minimum of 48% certified post-consumer recycled plastic. The thumbwheel is built from low-carbon aluminium, and the battery includes 100% recycled cobalt. Product packaging is sourced from FSC-certified materials, all plastics are unpainted, and the device is designed to be easily disassembled at end of life to aid recycling processes.

Technical specifications

The MX Master 4 is equipped with a MagSpeed scroll wheel, capable of scrolling up to 1,000 lines per second. Its 8,000 DPI sensor tracks smoothly across multiple surfaces, including glass. The mouse produces 90% less clicking noise relative to the previous MX Master 3 model, a feature intended for use in quiet or shared office environments.

Charging is via USB-C, with a 1-minute charge said to power 3 hours of use and a full charge lasting up to 70 days. Multi-device pairing enables users to connect up to three devices and switch between them without interruptions, with added capability to transfer files using Logi Options+.

The MX Master 4 will be available in Graphite and Pale Grey globally, with the Mac version offered in White Silver. The MX Master 4 is listed at AUD $199.95 & NZD $249.95 and includes a complimentary one-month membership to Adobe Creative Cloud, offering access to selected applications such as Photoshop, Lightroom and Premiere Pro.
