Presidential candidate Catherine Connolly said she is “absolutely shocked’ by comments from former minister Ivan Yates that suggested Fine Gael should “smear the bejaysus out of her”.
Ms Connolly, who was canvassing with her team in Co Tipperary, said she was “doubly shocked” when Mr Yates’ comments on a podcast were played back to her on local radio.
