In Kilkenny, a man in his 40s died following a collision involving three cars in Templemartin on Saturday afternoon.
The crash, which took place on the N10 road, was reported just after 4.30pm. The driver and sole occupant of one of the cars was pronounced dead at the scene.
A man and a woman travelling in the second car were taken to St Luke’s Hospital in Kilkenny. Their injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

The occupants of the third car did not require immediate hospital treatment.
The scene was attended by gardaà and emergency services, and the local coroner has been notified.
A full forensic investigation of the scene is set to be carried out by gardaÃ.
The N10 was closed in both directions from the junction at exit 8 of the M9 to the Hebron Road roundabout, with local diversions in place.
Gardaà are appealing to anyone who was travelling on the N10 at Templemartin around the time of the collision to contact them.
Road users with camera footage (including dash-cam) from that section of road during the relevant period are also asked to make it available to investigating officers.

Meanwhile, in Cork. a young man aged in his late teens died following a single-vehicle collision in Co Cork on Saturday night.
The incident took place at Scarteen Lower in Newmarket late on Saturday, shortly after 11.20pm.
The vehicle involved in the incident left the road and collided with a ditch. The driver was fatally injured and a male passenger aged in his teens was uninjured.
The body of the deceased has been removed to the mortuary in Cork University Hospital where a postmortem is due to take place.
A full forensic investigation of the scene will be carried out gardaÃ. The road is currently closed with local diversions in place.
