As a combatant in duels between Armenia and Ireland in a previous decade, the outcome was scars and bruises, both physical and mental.

So when former national team player Yura Movsisyan sat in the packed stands in Yerevan last month as a fan and saw Armenia beat Ireland 2-1, the smiles were merited and long overdue.
