Hegarty father and son act create a championship moment for Kilcar

Michael and Jack Hegarty created a little bit of history on Sunday when they became the first ever father and son to play championship football for Kilcar on the same team since 2017.

Kilcar and Glenswilly played out a 2-9 to 0-15 draw at Towney in the Senior B championship in the curtain-raiser to the SFC clash between the sides, which Kilcar won 4-20 to 1-10. Eight years ago, the McShanes, father and son Michael and Ryan, played for Kilcar’s second string, also against Glenswilly.
