THE Munster Rugby squad have started preparations at the High Performance Centre at UL ahead of Saturday’s huge interprovincial derby against Connacht at Thomond Park, 7.45pm kick-off.
There is good news for last season’s Player of the Year Tom Farrell as he has been added to the Ireland squad ahead of the Gallagher Cup match against New Zealand and for the Quilter Nations Series.
Leinster’s Jimmy O’Brien has also been added to the Ireland squad ahead of the meeting with the All-Blacks.
Jean Kleyn has also been named by the Springboks in their squad for the November internationals.
On the injury front, Roman Salanoa made his comeback in red at the weekend for Munster A in their 26-all draw with Leinster A in Dublin.
There are four injuries to report following Saturday’s bonus-point win over Leinster at Croke Park.
Brian Gleeson and Edwin Edogbo were both set to travel with the Ireland squad to Chicago but have been ruled out.
Gleeson fractured his elbow at Croke Park on Saturday night and will undergo surgery. Edogbo failed a HIA at half-time and will enter the return-to-play protocols.
Diarmuid Barron will go for a scan on a neck injury.
Andrew Smith will go for a scan on a hamstring injury and is unavailable this week.
