{"id":101369,"date":"2025-10-24T11:38:11","date_gmt":"2025-10-24T11:38:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/101369\/"},"modified":"2025-10-24T11:38:11","modified_gmt":"2025-10-24T11:38:11","slug":"plans-revealed-for-new-16-storey-apartment-block-near-corks-elysian-tower","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/101369\/","title":{"rendered":"Plans revealed for new 16-storey apartment block near Cork\u2019s Elysian Tower"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>What a busy corner of the city will look like if a new apartment block goes ahead close to the Elysian Tower is revealed in virtual images contained in Cork City Council\u2019s planning documents, published on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>The proposed 147-unit development will transform the 0.4552ha site at Anglesea Terrace and will include a 16-storey block just slightly lower than the 17-storey Elysian. As well as apartments, the proposed scheme will include a cafe\/restaurant unit and two office\/retail units.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">All existing structures on the site will be demolished to make way for the development, including four buildings and boundary walls. A car park \u2014 used by City Council staff \u2014 will be removed too.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The apartment block will include 72 one-bed and 75 two-bed units. Open communal space for the residents will include an external courtyard, a linear western park and a rooftop terrace on the seventh floor.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Buildings will range in height from two to 16 storeys and will be sympathetic to surrounding properties such as St Joachim and Anne\u2019s, a striking 19th-century protected redbrick structure to the west of the site. The site is bounded to the north by Old Station Road, by the South Link Road to the east and Anglesea Terrace to the south.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/4832814_10_articleinline_Anglesea_20Terrace_20CGI.jpg\" alt=\"A computer generated image of Anglesea Terrace.
