THERE were just two Limerick wins, by UL-Bohemian in Division 2B and Thomond in Division 2C, on a dramatic say of action in the energia All-Ireland League<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In Division 1A, Young Munster are still seeking their firts win of the campaign, the Limerick side picking up two bonus points in a 35-40 defeat to Lansdowne at Clifford Park thanks to a late scoring surge from the home side.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Munsters’, who have now lost each of their opening four league fixtures, trailed 7-21 at half-time, the home side’s opening points coming from a Hubert Gilvarry try, which was converted by Shane O’Leary.<\/p>\n

A second try for Munsters’ from\u00a0Liam Mc Mahon, converted by O’Leary reduced Lansdowne’s lead, before the Dubliners hit back with the bonus point try to lead 26-14.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Munsters’ added a third try through\u00a0Orin Burke, converted by O’Leary, before Lansdowne added two converted tries for 40-21.<\/p>\n

However, the Greenfields side hit back with a second Burke try and one from Aaron\u00a0Roulston, with Kelvin Langan adding the extras, to move within bonus point range.<\/p>\n

The resulte sees Munsters’ third from bottom in the table, two points clear of ninth-placed UCD.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In Division 1B, Garryowen suffered an 18-15 defeat to Blackrock College at Stradbrook.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Light Blues have dropped to fifth spot in the table on the back of their first defeat of the campaign.<\/p>\n

In Division 2A, Old Crescent lost out 7-10 to MU Barnhall at Parsonstown to drop to fifth place in the table.\u00a0<\/p>\n

After a scorless opening half, Old Crescent took the lead when\u00a0John Toland dotted down for the Rosbrien side with Jeff Williams adding the extras for 7-0.<\/p>\n

However, a converted try for Barnhall and later penalty ensured Barnhall claimed the four points. It was a second defeat in four games for Crescent.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Also in 2A, Shannon have dropped to eighth spot in the table in the wake of their 22-14 defeat to Dungannon at Stevenson Park.<\/p>\n

The Parish side led the game 11-7 at half-time, thanks to a\u00a0Jordan Prenderville try and two penalty goals from\u00a0Jamie Gavin.<\/p>\n

A third Gavin penalty on the 50th minute pushed Shannon’s lead out to seven points, 14-7.\u00a0<\/p>\n

However, a run of 15 unanswered points, including two tries, turned the game decisively in Dungannon’s favour.<\/p>\n

In Division 2B, UL-Bohemian have moved up to second place in the table on the back of a thumping 53-17 win over Rainey RFC at ULs North Campus.<\/p>\n

Eight-try UL-Bohs laid the foundation for this win in the opening half after which the Red, Red Robins led 27-5. UL-Bohs had first half tries from\u00a0Donnacha O\u2019Callaghan, with two, Sean Quirke and\u00a0Simon Staunton, while Oisin Fagan kicked the remaining points.<\/p>\n

The Limerick side then added further tries from Killian Dineen, Paul Clancy, Joe Johnston and Donnacha O’Callaghan who completed his hat-trick. Fagan added the extra points with the boot.<\/p>\n

In Division 2C, Thomond remain top of the table, making it four wins from four, with an impressive 35-25 victory over Malahide at Estuary Road.<\/p>\n

Table toppers lead second-placed Clonmel by five points in the table. The Limerick side had tries from\u00a0Colin Slater and\u00a0Evan Maher, one of which was converted by Evan Cusack to lead 12-5.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Malahide rallied to get within a point of the visitors at 11-12, before\u00a0Evan Maher struck for his second try for Thomond, converted by Cusack to lead, 19-11. A further Thomond try from\u00a0Ryain Aherne and two Evan Cusack penalties increased the advantage.<\/p>\n

Thomond then sealed the bonus point win when\u00a0Evan Maher completed his hat-trick of tries.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Also in Division 2C, Bruff dropped to seventh spot when suffering a heavy 37-7 defeat to Ballyclare at the Cloughan.<\/p>\n

Cillian Rea scored the try for Bruff, with Paul Collins adding the extras. The South Limerick side has won two of their opening four league games this season.<\/p>\n
