British indie Beaucroft unveils a stealthy and surprisingly technical new take on its Element field watch.
\nIt features Nitron MC \u2013 an advanced, scratch-resistant tungsten carbide carbon hard-coating technology, which was also developed in its hometown of Cambridge.
\nThe Rebel Black comes mounted on a cut-to-fit black FKM rubber strap from UK strap specialist Under The Cuff.<\/p>\n

Beaucroft\u2019s Element 39.5mm<\/a> is a great GADA watch that, unusually for the category and for a young brand, comes in a variety of rather colourful dials, including interesting Glacial Blue, Sunset Orange and \u201cG&T\u201d shades. However, Beaucroft\u2019s latest Element goes in the opposite direction with a full monochromatic look.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s called the Element Rebel Black, and it features a blacked-out look courtesy of Nitron MC, an advanced tungsten carbide<\/a> carbon coating developed by Wallwork Group in Cambridgeshire. Founded in the late 1950s, Wallwork is the UK\u2019s largest privately owned specialist in thermal processes and surface engineering, and their Nitron MC technology delivers a hardness rating exceeding 850Hv<\/a> through an advanced magnetron physical vapour deposition (PVD) process. The result is a dark grey-black finish that\u2019s genuinely tougher than standard DLC, with a coefficient of friction of just 0.1 and a graded structure that ensures exceptional adhesion and long-term resilience.<\/p>\n

That stealthy case is complemented by a deep enamel-black base dial that features a matte-finish contrasting chapter ring with subtle gloss highlights, maintaining excellent legibility while absorbing light. Beaucroft\u2019s signature mint-green gloss seconds hand\u2014a wink to those who know\u2014adds the only splash of colour to the otherwise monochromatic palette.<\/p>\n

The fundamentals remain impressive. The 39.5mm case still measures 11.7mm thick, housing a Miyota<\/a> 9039 automatic movement and providing for 200 metres of water resistance<\/a>. Each movement is hand-assembled and individually regulated to \u00b110 seconds per day by Horologium, Beaucroft\u2019s UK-based assembly and service partner.<\/p>\n

The Element\u2019s typical steel bracelet gives way to a high-quality cut-to-size FKM rubber strap developed with British strap specialist Under The Cuff. Each strap can be precisely tailored with 5mm cut intervals and an additional 2.5mm micro-adjustment at the brushed stainless steel SpringLock clasp. The sophisticated checker-plate texture, evocative of Tropic straps, elevates it beyond typical rubber, while quick-release spring bars allow effortless swaps without tools.<\/p>\n
