Coronation Street star Jodie Prenger has shared new teasers for a “dramatic” Christmas on the cobbles. Show bosses have promised to put the Rovers Return at centre stage over the festive season this year<\/a>, which is sure to mean that Jodie’s character Glenda Shuttleworth is in the thick of the action.<\/p>\n

All eyes are currently on the pub after Eva Price returned to Weatherfield<\/a> to take over ownership of the boozer in Monday’s episode<\/a> (28 October). She arrived back in town with her new partner Ben Driscoll and his family.<\/p>\n

Glenda was worried about being forced out of The Rovers with so many new arrivals on the scene, but it seems that she’ll be sticking around for the foreseeable future.<\/p>\n

Jodie spoke about Christmas storylines in an exclusive interview with Soap Scoop, the Inside Soap<\/a> podcast with cast interviews every Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Asked about the vibe of the festive episodes, she replied: “It’s family. I’m allowed to say it is very dramatic. And I think she kind of clocks something.<\/p>\n

“I think Glenda’s a clocker, if that makes sense! She slowly clocks things and then derives her wisdom from that \u2013 and what she sees is quite shocking. <\/p>\n

“So it’s going to be a big shocking, dramatic Christmas across the board, but then filled with a lot of joy and fun.<\/p>\n

“I’m not giving too much away. We filmed some lovely scenes in The Rovers as well. So it’s like that great thing that Corrie does \u2013 the joy, the drama all rolled into one.”<\/p>\n

Discussing the new family’s arrival, Jodie said: “I think Glenda’s worried for her job! But I’m really excited because they’re just ace. It’s like they’ve always been there.<\/p>\n

“She’s not moving. She’s Pritt Stick-ing her feet to that floor and she’s gonna pull a few more pints.<\/p>\n

“It’s a big family moving in. I think Glenda, the character, is very unsure, especially what was going on with Carla and the ownership. And she’s scared for her job, like I think every single character in that pub is.<\/p>\n

“But I think she gets on with Maggie. And my very good friend, Cath [Tyldesley, who plays Eva] \u2013 I’m really thrilled, I love her. So Glenda’s wary of it but quickly warms to them. I’ll definitely say that.”<\/p>\n

Corrie’s producer Kate Brooks previously spoke about Christmas spoilers during a press day for the show.<\/p>\n

Brooks said: “The day itself is a real family affair. And the Driscolls are very much at the heart of it, because it’s a proper pub Christmas Day.<\/p>\n

“It’s very community based and very lively. There’s loads going on. Secrets are exposed. So it’s a real feel-good episode, with a lot of drama thrown into the mix.”<\/p>\n
