\n\tThe Playmaker<\/a> has taken international sales rights to Nikias Chryssos<\/a>\u2019 English-language debut, the supernatural body-horror pic \u201cBloody Tennis.\u201d The Playmaker will launch international sales on the film at the American Film Market in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe film, which is produced by Augenschein<\/a>, was written by Chryssos. The Greek-German filmmaker broke out with his 2015 feature \u201cDer Bunker,\u201d which debuted at Berlinale and won the Next Wave Award for best feature at Fantastic Fest in Austin. His second feature film \u201cA Pure Place\u201d was developed in the R\u00e9sidence du Festival de Cannes and premiered at the Munich Film Festival, where it won the award for best director.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cBloody Tennis\u201d stars Sandra Guldberg Kampp (\u201cFoundation\u201d), Golden Globe nominee Helena Zengel (\u201cNews of the World,\u201d \u201cThe Legend of Ochi\u201d), Lucie Zhang (\u201cParis, 13th District\u201d), Lily Taieb (\u201cThe French Dispatch,\u201d \u201cBergman Island\u201d), Tracy Gotoas, Elina L\u00f6wensohn (\u201cSchindler\u2019s List\u201d), and Zlatko Buri\u0107 (\u201cTriangle of Sadness\u201d), with an original score from Jim Williams (\u201cTitane,\u201d \u201cRaw,\u201d \u201cPossessor\u201d).<\/p>\n

\n\tThe horror film takes the world of elite sports to disturbing new extremes, filled with brutal ambition, blood-sucking leeches, and hard-hitting serves. After being admitted to an elite tennis academy hidden deep in the south of Europe, Sophie (Guldberg Kampp) must contend not only with the fierce brutality of her teammates but with the school\u2019s increasingly sinister undercurrents, where competitive sports are taken to their extreme and only the hungriest survive.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe film is a German production, produced by Jonas Katzenstein and Maximilian Leo (\u201cThe Assessment,\u201d \u201cMother Mary\u201d) of Augenschein in co-production with Port au Prince Film & Kultur Produktion, which also acts as the German distributor, and ZDF. It is supported by Film-und Medienstiftung and German Federal Film Fund (DFFF).<\/p>\n
