Mylos Hotel, Corsica

The Corsican practice Orma built Mylos<\/a> on the edge of an old Greek village, and Doroth\u00e9e Meilichzon designed the interiors with matt red built-ins and blue headboards that resemble shepherds\u2019 hats. The property opened last summer and graphic accents set the tone. Shards of primary-coloured ceramics are embedded in the stucco and even the bathroom marble has green veining, picked up in wall niches.<\/p>\n

This month Fien Muller and Hannes Van Severen launched a showroom outside Ghent<\/a> in Belgium, with blue doors and red windows that pick up colours from the furnishings displayed within. The by-appointment space supports the brand\u2019s new webshop, where fans of its powder-coated cabinets and multicoloured slim-profile seating can buy direct from the creators.<\/p>\n

The experimental architects at Burr in Madrid<\/a> took on a disused industrial storage space in the city centre and adapted it to the residential environment with bright painted features and custom modular furnishings in Pantone primaries. Opened up with new windows and sliding doors, it now serves as a community event space with zones for cooking, eating and conversation.<\/p>\n

A traditional news kiosk off Via Taranto in Rome<\/a> is now a neighbourhood hub dedicated to independent publishing, thanks to an intervention by designer Gaetano Orefice with help from Cantiere Galli and Roman design studio Dispensabile<\/a>. They brought lacquered wood shelving, sustainable vinyl flooring and colourful chairs and stools to the octagonal gallery. The accessories are the books themselves, by Corraini, Numero Cromatico and Nero Editions.<\/p>\n

Ministry of Design<\/a> undertook the look for The Standard\u2019s Singapore<\/a> location, using the brand\u2019s favourite red in the lobby, bedrooms and statement lifts. Bathrooms are tiled floor to ceiling in yellow, hallways are a medley of blues and there\u2019s plenty of greenery, especially in the lounges and outdoor spaces. The property integrates the Standard aesthetic while staying true to its specific geography.<\/p>\n
