A centre in county Longford for people with disabilities has received a hugely positive report from the health watchdog.<\/p>\n
An unannounced inspection of St. Christopher’s Services was carried out in July, the details of which have been published today.<\/p>\n
The centre provides residential care to three adults (each housed in their own bungalow) in two properties in Longford town and one in Legan village.<\/p>\n
Residents have moderate to severe intellectual disabilities, complex needs, sensory and behavioural support requirements.<\/p>\n
Inspectors found that residents were comfortable, well-supported, and had strong connections with families and local community activities.<\/p>\n
Homes were described as bright, well-equipped, accessible and “homely” with personal items, gardens and appropriate facilities.<\/p>\n
Staff received regular and up-to-date training, supervision and appraisal processes.<\/p>\n
While communication supports were in use and effectively tailored to residents’ individual needs.<\/p>\n
