Gardai are investigating the death of a man aged in his 30s who was struck by a bin lorry on Dublin’s Dame Street in the early hours of this morning.<\/p>\n

Gardai investigating the death of a man in an early morning traffic incident in central Dublin<\/a> are investigating the possibility it was a personal tragedy, it has emerged.<\/p>\n

The man, who was a foreign national in his 30s, died after being struck by a bin lorry on Dame Street at around 1.45am on Thursday.<\/p>\n

Sources say he suffered fatal injuries after he went under the wheels of the bin lorry. \u201cIt is looking like a personal tragedy,\u201d a source told us.<\/p>\n

Gardai <\/a>are now preparing a file for the Dublin City Coroner and have appealed for witnesses to come forward.<\/p>\n

Dame Street, which is one of the main arteries in Dublin, was closed for several hours on Thursday morning as Garda Forensic Collision Investigators examined the scene. But the street was reopened to traffic by 11am.<\/p>\n

Any witnesses are asked to contact Pearse Street Garda Station. Officers issued an appeal for witnesses to come forward.<\/p>\n

The force said in a statement: \u201cGarda\u00ed are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision which occurred on Dame Street, Dublin 2 this morning, Thursday, 30th October 2025.<\/p>\n

\u201cGarda\u00ed <\/a>and emergency services responded following report of the collision, involving a pedestrian and a truck, that occurred at approximately 1.45am.<\/p>\n

\u201cA male pedestrian (30s) was pronounced deceased at the scene. His body has been removed to Dublin City Mortuary where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere were no other injuries reported. The Coroner has been notified.\u201d<\/p>\n

The statement also called on people not to share any images or footage online from the scene It said: \u201c Garda Forensic Collision Investigators have completed an examination of the scene and the road has been reopened.<\/p>\n

\u201cGarda\u00ed are appealing to anyone who may have taken images or recorded footage of the incident to not share it on social media platforms or messaging apps, but instead to provide it to investigating Garda\u00ed.<\/p>\n
