{"id":113645,"date":"2025-10-31T06:45:14","date_gmt":"2025-10-31T06:45:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/113645\/"},"modified":"2025-10-31T06:45:14","modified_gmt":"2025-10-31T06:45:14","slug":"four-rescued-from-sinking-fishing-vessel-in-cork","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/113645\/","title":{"rendered":"Four rescued from sinking fishing vessel in Cork"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Four men were rescued from a fishing vessel after it took in water and sank within 15 minutes in Castletownbere, Co Cork last night.<\/p>\n<p>The incident happened between the main pier at Castletownbere and Dinish pier on Dinish island.<\/p>\n<p>The alarm was raised shortly after 8.45pm.<\/p>\n<p>At the time, volunteers at Castletownbere RNLI lifeboat were finishing a training exercise and tying up their boat when they were contacted by the Coast Guard about a nearby vessel in distress.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We untied our boat immediately, grabbed a pump and set off as soon as we heard the mayday,&#8221; said Martin O&#8217;Donohoe of Castletownbere RNLI.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The fishing vessel had hit a rock and was rapidly taking on water.
