A 37-year-old man has pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of Irish woman Sarah McNally, who was killed in New York in March last year, a New York prosecutor has said.<\/p>\n
Ms McNally, who was originally from Longford, died after being stabbed at the C\u00e9il\u00ed House pub in Maspeth in Queens.<\/p>\n
Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz confirmed yesterday that Marcin Pieciak had pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of the 41-year-old Irish woman.<\/p>\n
Ms McNally had been working as a bartender when Pieciak, who was her boyfriend, attacked her with a knife and stabbed her 19 times.<\/p>\n
She was taken to hospital in critical condition but was later pronounced dead.<\/p>\n
Pieciak cut his own throat with a second knife when attempting to flee the premises, but was stopped by a bar patron.<\/p>\n
He is expected to be sentenced on 21 November to 24 years in prison to be followed by five years of post-release supervision, the District Attorney’s office said.<\/p>\n
Ms Katz said that Ms McNally\u2019s killing shocked the community and Ms McNally\u2019s loved ones.<\/p>\n
