{"id":114769,"date":"2025-10-31T20:37:08","date_gmt":"2025-10-31T20:37:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/114769\/"},"modified":"2025-10-31T20:37:08","modified_gmt":"2025-10-31T20:37:08","slug":"limerick-actor-in-california-to-represent-ireland-at-top-film-festival","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/114769\/","title":{"rendered":"Limerick actor in California to represent Ireland at top film festival"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>YOUNG Limerick actor Eleanor O&#8217;Brien from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.limerickleader.ie\/section\/234\/arts-entertainment\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Cappamore<\/a> travelled to California to promote Irish for a screening of B\u00e1ite at the Newport Beach Film Festival.<br \/>Speaking to the Limerick Leader, Ms O&#8217;Brien said there were many \u201cpinch me\u201d moments and that Newport Beach was \u201cextremely beautiful\u201d and an area steeped in luxury, so she got to experience some once-in-a-lifetime things, including brunch on a yacht and seeing where the Oscars are filmed.<br \/>She said that it felt even more special to be travelling for an Irish language film. <br \/>\u201cThis feels closer to things being possible for me,\u201d Ms O&#8217;Brien said about all the amazing industry people she got to meet. <br \/>\u201cIt was really about making connections and meeting people, and getting a sense of who people are and how they work,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>READ MORE:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.limerickleader.ie\/news\/home\/1925925\/exclusive-limerick-busker-26-on-abuse-hurled-while-trying-to-make-a-living.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Limerick busker on &#8216;abuse hurled&#8217; while trying to make a living<\/a><br \/>The festival champions the work of original storytellers from all around the world.<br \/>\u201cThe whole team were really good at making all of the Irish feel extremely welcome and it was really interesting to hear what the film meant to people and to hear people with American accents speaking Irish was amazing.\u201d<br \/>The Cappamore actor launched a GoFundMe to raise funds towards her tuition fees at Oxford School of Drama, as a way for people to practically support the arts and an artist&#8217;s journey. <br \/>The trip to the film festival in California was funded by Dan\u00fa Media, Screen Ireland, Coimisi\u00fan na Mean and TG4.<br \/>Ms O&#8217;Brien, who was the lead actor in B\u00e1ite, travelled over as part of an Irish contingent, which included the film&#8217;s director, the writer, and others. <br \/>Ms O&#8217;Brien said: \u201cIt was absolutely fantastic and so amazing that they were able to support us to go over.
