Davy Fitzgerald is among the guests on Friday’s Late Late Show as he talks all things Ireland’s Fittest Family.<\/p>\n

The Clare<\/a> native will join host Patrick Kielty alongside fellow coaches on the TV programme Donncha O’Callaghan, Ellen Keane<\/a> and Michael Darragh MacAuley<\/a> to preview the 13th series of the RT\u00c9 <\/a>competition.<\/p>\n

The Clare hurling legend tied the knot with his long-term partner Sharon O’Loughlin after 13 years together.<\/p>\n

Sharon, a fellow Clare native like her husband, also hails from a family passionate about hurling. She’s not just a spectator but a successful camogie player who has represented Clare.<\/p>\n

She is the sister of Ger ‘Sparrow’ O’Loughlin, a former team-mate of Davy Fitz in the Banner team and a two-time All-Ireland<\/a> champion.<\/p>\n

When did they exchange vows?<\/p>\n

The couple said their “I dos” in 2019.<\/p>\n

What has Davy shared about his relationship with Sharon?<\/p>\n

“The one thing about Sharon, she actually knows her hurling unreal,” Fitzgerald revealed.<\/p>\n

“She played for a long time. I’ve known Sharon long before we went out together. She’s Ger O’Loughlin, Sparrow’s sister, who I played with, and I was in business with Ger for years as well. She comes from a real traditional hurling family.<\/p>\n

“Is she afraid to speak her mind? No. She has a heart of gold but by God, she definitely is a strong opinionated lady which I totally, totally respect.”<\/p>\n

Does Davy Fitzgerald have any children?<\/p>\n

The 54-year-old has two children – Colm from his first marriage and D\u00e1ith\u00ed \u00d3g, who was born in 2022.<\/p>\n

Speaking about becoming a dad again in his 50s<\/a>, Davy said: \u201cFatherhood is great. The first lad was 25 years ago.<\/p>\n

“Like, you would wonder to yourself, am I too old for this? I\u2019m 51 so you\u2019d say to yourself am I too old for this? But to be honest, I wake up with a smile on my face every morning when I see him. I\u2019m really happy he is in my life. He\u2019s great.\u201d<\/p>\n
