A man has been arrested after leading garda\u00ed on a high-speed car chase on a busy motorway in Co Kildare<\/a>, that left two Garda vehicles damaged.<\/p>\n

Garda\u00ed<\/a> raced to the scene shortly before 9am on Saturday morning, following reports of a male motorist travelling on the M4 in Kilcock armed with a suspected firearm.<\/p>\n

Gardai managed to locate the vehicle and following a lengthy managed containment operation, the car and motorist were intercepted in the Tallaght area of Dublin 24 shortly after 10.30am.<\/p>\n

The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, a man aged in his 20s, was arrested at the scene and an imitation firearm was recovered by gardai.<\/p>\n

\"AA man in his 20s was arrested after gardai intercepted the vehicle in the Tallaght area of Dublin 24 shortly after 10.30am.<\/p>\n

The man is currently being detained at a Garda Station in Co Kildare pursuant to Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act, 1939.<\/p>\n

A garda spokesperson confirmed that no one was injured in the incident, although minor damage was caused to two Garda vehicles during the pursuit.<\/p>\n

A garda spokesperson said in a statement to the Irish Mirror: “Shortly before 9 am on Saturday, 1st November 2025, Garda\u00ed responded to reports of a male motorist travelling on the M4 in Kilcock, Co. Kildare armed with a suspected firearm.<\/p>\n

“The vehicle concerned was located by Garda\u00ed and following a lengthy managed containment operation, the vehicle and motorist were intercepted in the Tallaght area of Dublin 24 shortly after 10:30am.<\/p>\n

“The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, a male in his 20s, was arrested and an imitation firearm was recovered. He is currently detained at a Garda Station in County Kildare under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act, 1939.<\/p>\n

“Minor damage was caused to two Garda vehicles in the course of the incident. No one required immediate medical attention.”<\/p>\n

The garda spokesperson said that investigations into the incident are ongoing.<\/p>\n
