Trent Alexander-Arnold<\/a> admits he has \u201cmixed emotions\u201d about facing Liverpool as a Real Madrid<\/a> player for the first time on Tuesday night.<\/p>\n

The 27-year-old turned down a new contract at Anfield to join LaLiga\u2019s leaders in June.<\/p>\n

The move to the Spanish capital, which pocketed the Reds \u00a310 million, ended Alexander-Arnold\u2019s 20-year association with the club.<\/p>\n

After making his debut in late October 2015, the England international went on to make 354 appearances for the club, in which he helped them win the Premier League<\/a>, Champions League<\/a> and every other major trophy available.<\/p>\n

But ahead of his return to Merseyside next week, Alexander-Arnold has said he has \u201cmixed emotions\u201d ahead of what he expects will be a \u201cvery difficult game\u201d against his former side.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think when the draw was announced, everyone kind of knew it was going to happen, it was destined for that fixture to come,\u201d he told Amazon Prime. <\/p>\n

\u201cThey are a top team, so I knew at some stage, some point I\u2019d end up going back there or playing against Liverpool either here or there. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s happening, so yeah, mixed emotions. I think it will be a very, very difficult game, but one I\u2019m excited for. A huge game on a huge stage.\u201d<\/p>\n

The right-back is widely expected to take in a hostile reception from the home crowd, and it is something he accepts.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhatever way I\u2019m received is the decision of the fans,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo matter what, my feelings won\u2019t change\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ll always love the club, I\u2019ll always be a fan of the club. I\u2019ll always be thankful for the opportunities and the things we achieved together \u2013 they\u2019ll live with me forever.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo matter what, my feelings won\u2019t change towards Liverpool. I\u2019ve got memories there that will last me a lifetime and, no matter how I\u2019m received, that won\u2019t change.\u201d<\/p>\n

But despite preparing to face Liverpool for the first time in his professional career, Alexander-Arnold revealed he has been in contact with several of his former team-mates ahead of the clash. <\/p>\n

\u201cI spoke to Robbo, Mo, Ibou. We were just laughing because I think everybody knew it was going to happen,\u201d he revealed.<\/p>\n
