The penultimate month of the year is here, with four money changes you need to know about.<\/p>\n
While last month might have been jampacked when it came to cost of living and money changes, this month is much slower.<\/p>\n
Between a price hike due to government policy and an ongoing social welfare scheme worth over \u20ac900, here are all the November updates:<\/p>\n
Fuel Allowance<\/p>\n
Fuel Allowance season is here, with it normally beginning in late September of each year and ending in April. It is a payment to help with the cost of heating your home during the winter months. It is paid to only one person in a household.<\/p>\n
The Fuel Allowance scheme consists of \u20ac33 per week for 28 weeks or it can be paid via two lump sum payments worth \u20ac924 in total. Although the current season is underway, people can still apply and qualify after the start date, however, the payments won\u2019t be backdated. But you will be entitled to future payments.<\/p>\n
You can find out more information about it here<\/a>.<\/p>\n Electric Ireland<\/p>\n It was announced that Electric Ireland will decrease their gas prices for 140,000 customers by 4% from the beginning of November. This reduction in residential gas unit rates and standing charges will result in annual savings of \u20ac57.56 on a person\u2019s average gas bill.<\/p>\n It should be noted that residential electricity unit rates and standing charges will remain unchanged. You can find more information here<\/a>.<\/p>\n Avant Money<\/p>\n Avant Money confirmed that they have increased the rate on their loans for less than \u20ac20,000. It has gone from 8.4% to 8.5% APR, according to Bonkers.<\/p>\n Vapes<\/p>\n A tax of 50c per millilitre on nicotine-containing e-liquid for vapes was confirmed in Budget 2026. It means that the price of a standard 2ml disposable vape, including VAT at 23%, will cost an additional \u20ac1.23, whereas, a 10ml bottle of liquid for reusable vapes will jump from \u20ac5 to \u20ac11.15.<\/p>\n This will come into effect from 1 November.
