{"id":121434,"date":"2025-11-04T15:08:06","date_gmt":"2025-11-04T15:08:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/121434\/"},"modified":"2025-11-04T15:08:06","modified_gmt":"2025-11-04T15:08:06","slug":"do-you-want-to-die-irish-citizen-recalls-train-attack","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/121434\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Do you want to die?&#8217; Irish citizen recalls train attack"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An Irish citizen who was stabbed on a London-bound train at the weekend has said &#8220;it was instinct&#8221; when he blocked the attacker from hurting other passengers.<\/p>\n<p>Ten people were wounded in the mass stabbing on board the train between Doncaster, a town in northeast England, and London&#8217;s King&#8217;s Cross Station, on Saturday night.<\/p>\n<p>British police were alerted to the emergency on board the train at around 7.40pm on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Stephen Crean, whose mother is from Co Dublin and father from Co Roscommon, said he saw a woman running down the carriage shouting &#8220;a man with a knife, a man with a knife&#8221; before he saw the attacker.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on RT\u00c9&#8217;s News at One programme, Mr Crean said people locked themselves in toilets and others ran towards the buffet carriage on the train to escape the attacker.<\/p>\n<p>He said he stood between the buffet car door and the man with the knife.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Crean said the attacker asked him &#8220;do you want to die?&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I knew he wanted to get past me and get in that buffet car cause the door wasn&#8217;t locked properly,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They finally got the last person in and I heard the door click and I went for his arm,&#8221; Mr Crean said.<\/p>\n<p alt=\"Cambridgeshire knife attack victim describes experience\" class=\"tpe\" data-description=\"Stephen Crean, a victim of the knife attack on a train in Cambridgeshire on Saturday evening, describes his experience.\" data-embed=\"rte-player\" data-id=\"22556809\" data-ot-category=\"C0004\" data-title=\"Stephen Crean, a victim of the knife attack on a train in Cambridgeshire on Saturday evening, describes his experience.\">We need your consent to load this rte-player contentWe use rte-player to manage extra content that can set cookies on your device and collect data about your activity.
