{"id":121867,"date":"2025-11-04T20:10:06","date_gmt":"2025-11-04T20:10:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/121867\/"},"modified":"2025-11-04T20:10:06","modified_gmt":"2025-11-04T20:10:06","slug":"michael-chandler-dustin-poirier-join-road-house-2-after-conor-mcgregor-starred-in-original-remake","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/121867\/","title":{"rendered":"Michael Chandler, Dustin Poirier join \u2018Road House 2\u2019 after Conor McGregor starred in original remake"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">The upcoming Road House 2 sequel from Amazon MGM has added several high-profile fighters to the cast starring alongside Jake Gyllenhaal after the original remake scored huge numbers after debuting on Prime Video.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">In total, six professional fighters are joining the cast including UFC stars Michael Chandler, Dustin Poirier, Michael \u2018Venom\u2019 Page and Stephen \u201cWonderboy\u201d Thompson as well as former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley and GLORY heavyweight kickboxing champion Rico V erhoeven.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">UFC veteran Jay Hieron is also returning for the sequel after he made an appearance in the original playing a fighter named Jax Harris, who fights Gyllenhaal\u2019s character Dalton in some flashback scenes during the movie. The film also stars former WWE superstar Dave Bautista and Aldis Hodge.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2025\/11\/road-house-2-adds-seven-jay-hieron-returning-exclusive-1236606513\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Deadline<\/a> first reported the casting news.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">In the original Road House remake that was released in 2024, UFC superstar Conor McGregor starred as Knox, who served as one of the primary villains in the film, but he\u2019s not expected to return for the sequel. McGregor is currently training to hopefully make his return to the octagon at the UFC White House card planned for June 2026 with Chandler actually targeted as his opponent.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">There\u2019s no word yet on when production is expected to start on Road House 2, but the film is reportedly much bigger in scope and scale with filming taking places in numerous locations including the United Kingdom, Malta, and Savannah, Ga.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Many of the new cast members actually have past acting experience, especially Verhoeven, who actually had his own starring vehicle with the movie Black Lotus as well as an appearance in the recent sequel Den of Thieves 2. Woodley also has extensive acting roles in the past including appearances in Straight Outta Compton and the TV series Cobra Kai.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">It\u2019s not clear if filming for Road House 2 could potentially sideline any of the active fighters taking on roles in the movie.
